Obituary for Fontell Shortridge (Penley) Fontell Penley Shortridge, age 76, of Honaker, Virginia, formerly of Rowe, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Friday morning (November 23, 2018) at her home. Born October 14, 1942 in Council, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Kidd and Victoria Tiller Penley. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a graduate of Council High School and was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hartford Shortridge; one son, Timothy Allen Shortridge; brother, Chester Penley; sisters, Venella Combs, Imogene Lester, Trula Presley and three infant sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Joetta Street and Kathy Smith and fiancé, Tommy Sobieck both of Honaker, Virginia; five grandchildren, Alex Smith, Keith Shortridge, Nickie Smith, Tyler Shortridge and Todd Keen; one brother, Jamie Penley and wife, Patty of Abingdon; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Rod Wicker officiating. Interment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Keith Shortridge, Alex Smith, Tommy Sobieck, Charles Hess, Craig Keen, Cameron Hankins, Brian Harrison, and Billy Hess.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Sunday at Honaker Funeral Home where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM with Rev. Troy Street officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.
