Obituary for Robert Richardson Mr. Robert Franklin Richardson, age 84, of the Pine Creek section of Swords Creek, Virginia passed away Wednesday (October 10, 2018) at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 23, 1934 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late John Wesley and Mary Elizabeth Robinette Richardson. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a very active member of Pine Creek Holiness Church for many years.

He retired from Ingersoll Rand’s Cedar Bluff, Virginia plant in 1999 and was a member of the UMWA District 28. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his darling wife of sixty-two years, Anna Ruth Hess Richardson on December 22, 2016; one daughter, Sandra Kay Sparks on April 27, 2017; five sisters, Dora Webb, Pearl Cole, Mae Plaster, Carlie Mutter and Ida Richardson; one brother, Clarence Richardson. Survivors include one son, Glenn Richardson and wife, Glenna; one daughter, Joann Mitchell and husband, Tim; one son-in-law whom he considered a son, Gary Lee Sparks; three grandsons, Carlos Richardson, Christopher Richardson and Jason Sparks and wife, Allison; five great-grandchildren, Breanna, Averie, Logan and Maddox Richardson and Owen Sparks; two sisters, Myrtle Plaster and Dorothy Whited; a host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Legacy Hospice and Dr. Kevin Wess and the staff of C-Health for their very caring service. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday at the Pine Creek Holiness Church at Swords Creek, Virginia with Rev. Jim Richardson and Bro.

J.P. Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the Richardson Cemetery at Swords Creek, Virginia. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
