Obituary for Harold W. Schickel Harold W. Schickel, 71, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at his home. Harold was born in Evansville to the late Chris and Evelyn (Maidlow) Schickel. He was a veteran of United States Marine Corps Serving in Vietnam and a member of the American Legion.

Harold was a natural mentor. He was influential as a safety manager to those he trained in the coal mines as well as to those he coached in baseball and women’s softball. Harold attended Christian Fellowship Church for the last several years.

Surviving Harold are his wife of 48 years, Carolyn (Remole) Schickel; three sons, Allen (Christy) Schickel of West Haven, UT, Chadwick (Nickole) Schickel of Vail, AZ and Eric Schickel of Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Dylan and Jestin Schickel, Maddison, Logynn, and Bayli Schickel and Elexa and Marrisa Schickel and one great grandchild, Liam Schickel. Also surviving are two sisters, Rosemary Elpers of Hudson, FL and Joyce (Roger) Klenck of Wadesville, IN; one brother, Ralph (Debbie) Schickel of Wadesville, IN by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Schickel, many nieces and nephews and his dog and best buddy, Baxter. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Schickel; by his sister, Helen Winternheimer and by a brother-in-law, Don Elpers.

Funeral services for Harold will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
