Obituary for Helen L. Grizzell Helen L. Grizzell, 91, of New Haven, MO, formerly of Vergennes, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018, in New Haven. Helen was born in Williamson County, IL, on July 21, 1926, a daughter to the late Herman and Edith (Mcree) Chamness. She was united in marriage to Lyman Johnson Grizzell on January 26, 1952, in Vergennes; Lyman preceded her in death on May 26, 1989.

Helen attended New Bethel Methodist Church and was a member of the Vergennes Senior Citizens. she was a homemaker and caregiver for her husband and mother. She excelled in sewing, embroidery, quilting, canning and cooking and had also been employed by the former Modglin Grocery Store in Vergennes.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Ron Kried will officiate. Burial will follow at Parrish Cemetery in Vergennes.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to the hour of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the New Haven Care Center and will be accepted at the funeral home. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Timothy Meyer of New Haven, MO; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Frank and Melanie Grizzell of Goreville, IL, and Marshall and Denise Grizzell of Ava, IL; grandchildren, Stephanie Meyer, and Neal (Anne) Meyer, Andrew Grizzell; step-grandchildren, Makayla Stewart, Caleb Stewart, and Dustin Benscoter; great-grandchildren, Kateri Meyer, Benedict Meyer, Augustine Meyer and Leo Meyer; two nephews, Gary and Wayne Chamness and one sister-in-law Jane Chamness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter-in-law, Terri Grizzell, and one brother, Dewey Chamness. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Helen L.
