Obituary for Joseph Lester Miles Joseph L. Miles, 85, of DeSoto, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Joseph was born December 11, 1932, in Grand Tower, IL, a son to the late Charles F. and Josephine (Wright) Miles. He was united in marriage to Jo Ann Keith in Paducah, KY, on March 30, 1987.

Jo Ann survives of Desoto. Joseph was a retired refrigeration service technician and had owned and operated Miles Refrigeration service in DeSoto. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Pastor Charles Allen of the Elm Street Baptist church will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Walker Hill Cemetery in Grand Tower.

Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the American Cancer Society. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Miles of DeSoto; one sister, Betty Miles of Desoto; and one brother and sister-in-law, Bennie and Nancy Miles of DeSoto; four sisters-in-law, Georgia Diane Yourtee, Cathy Lynn Greer, Carole (Dana) Jarnett and Susan Devers; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Miles Jr., and four brothers, Chester, Walter, Bill and George Miles.
