Obituary for Betty Jean Taylor (Johnson) Betty Jean Taylor, 90, of Murphysboro, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Betty was born on December 2, 1927, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Roy and Hallie (White) Johnson. She was a homemaker and a mother, and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and being with her family.

She loved cooking and feeding people. When she and Bill had the greenhouse, she also loved tending to the plants and gardening. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro.

Betty married William J. B. Taylor, Jr. on June 2, 1946, in Sikeston, Missouri and he survives. Other survivors include two sons David Taylor and Kevin (Kim) Taylor, all of Murphysboro; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by one son Allen, eight brothers and sisters, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Allen officiating and burial at Murdale Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
