Kelley, 70, of Stuart, died Tuesday, May 14, 2019 in Tulsa. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Stuart Church of Christ officiated by Mr. Chris Rampey and Mr. Jim Corley.

Burial will follow at Pryor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www. stjude.org.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Schultz, Aaron Morgan, Sterling Taylor, Donald Stacey, Jason Dunn, Austin Burge, and Brad Inman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Kelley, Gary Kelley, Roger Kelley, Randy Kelley, Stanley Elms, Terry Trivitt, George Conover, Larry Wood, and Perry Wood. Hershel was born to Edgar D. and Ida Jane (Null) Kelley on January 27, 1949 in McAlester.

He graduated from Stuart High School in 1967. During high school he played baseball and basketball, and was active with the FFA. He obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

He married Cheryl Lynn Bennett on August 24, 1967 in McAlester. Hershel was a master mechanic, working with his father at Kelley Motor Company from 1967 until 2000. He worked as a dunnage truck driver for the past 15 years at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.

He was a bull rider and enjoyed raising coon dogs. He was a reserve deputy for Pittsburg and Hughes County for over 23 years. Hershel was a member of the Stuart Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Edgar and Ida Kelley, great-grandchild: Sydney Westbrook, and brother-in-law: Kenneth Vaughn. He is survived by his wife: Cheryl Kelley of the home; daughter: Bridget Kelley of McAlester; sons: Cody Kelley and wife, Cassie of McAlester, Coleby Kelley of the home; grandchildren: Colten Westbrook, Kelsey Clagg, Maelee Short, Jordan Kelley, Luke Kelley, Kyra Kelley, Hunter Cash Kelley, Coleby Ace Kelley; great-grandchildren: Austyn, Rainin, Isabella, Renley, Asher, and Trinity; sisters: Karen Vaughn of McAlester, Karla Jan Kelley of Mead; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
