Hessie Barker Lewis, age, 96 of Jefferson, died Monday, January 7, 2019 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Lewis was born March 15, 1922 in Ashe County to the late James and Eary Carpenter Barker. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar Francis and brother, Virgil Barker.

She loved to quilt, work in her garden and go to yard sales. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 11, 2019 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Fred Richardson, Rev. Joey McClure and Rev.

Tommy Dollar. Burial will follow in the Howell Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM prior to the service.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by, her husband, Bobby Dean Lewis, son, Lionel Francis of Lansing, step-daughter, Kathy Lewis of Marion, VA, sister, Floy Barker of Lansing, 1 step-grandson and several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the family c/o Badger Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., West Jefferson, NC 28694.
