Howard N. “Hap” Witmer Jr., 70, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Howard G. and Bertha (Ness) Witmer. Hap was the husband of Carol (Wittas) Witmer with whom he celebrated 51 years of marriage this past October 8th.

Hap retired from Wilton Armetale as a Supervisor. He would also help out on the family farm. Hap enjoyed watching and playing baseball.

He coached little league and was a Boy Scout Leader. A Free and Accepted Mason, He was a member of Ashara-Casiphia Lodge, No. 551 of Mount Joy.

Hap was also a member of the Bass Angler Sportsman Society and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and NASCAR enthusiast. Surviving in addition to his wife, Carol, are two children, Howard K. Witmer, husband of Kelli of Marietta and Paul T. Witmer, husband of Jennie of Columbia; four grandchildren, Jordan, Cassandra, Kaitlyn and Kirsten Witmer; a great granddaughter, Alexa Witmer; and two sisters, Joanne Pinkerton, wife of Jim of Mount Joy and Carol Sue Muth of Columbia.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
