Ray A. Kunkle, 77, of Bainbridge, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at his residence with his family by his side. Born in Bethel, PA, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Sarah R. (Weaver) Kunkle. Ray was the loving husband of Nancy (Pfautz) Kunkle and previously the late Patsy (Secrist) Kunkle.

Ray was a graduate of South Lebanon High School class of 1959. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Ray retired from Wyeth Laboratories as a Lab Technician after 42 years of service.

He was also a proud livestock and crop farmer. A member of Zion United Church of Christ in Marietta, Ray was instrumental in the church’s pork and sauerkraut dinner, making all the sauerkraut at the family farm. He was also a member of the Conoy Lions Club and volunteered at the East Donegal/Conoy Food Bank.

Ray was an avid outdoorsman. He was a model “Pappy” and spending time with his family was the most important aspect in Ray’s life. Surviving in addition to his wife, Nancy, are two children, Raeann Hamon, wife of Jeff of East Berlin and Paul Kunkle, husband of Lisa of Bainbridge; three step children, Maria Tice-Shuey of Jonestown, Mark Tice, husband of Monica of Delaware, Matthew Tice, husband of Dawn of Coatesville; an adopted son, Larry Kunkle, husband of Roma of Mount Joy; ten grandchildren; two great grandsons; and a sister, Ruth Stein of Bethel, PA.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Eugene, Raymond and Arthur Kunkle; and three sisters, Pauline Clauser, Pearl Sweinhart and Dorothy Althouse. A celebration of life service will be held at Zion United Church of Christ, 5 South Waterford Avenue, Marietta on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 1:30 PM. Family and friends will be received at the church for a luncheon BEFORE the service from 12 PM to 1:30 PM.

Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Church of Christ, 5 South Waterford Avenue, Marietta, PA 17547 or the Conoy Lions Club, P.O. Box 512, Bainbridge, PA 17502-0512.
