Hugh’s Obituary Hugh Mitchell “Charlie” Tubbs, 90, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, TN. He was born on November 28, 1928, in Boothspoint, TN, to the late Lonnie Burke Tubbs and the late Bonnie Mitchell Tubbs. Charlie worked many years as a barber at Charlie’s Barber Shop in Dyersburg, where many youngsters got their first haircuts and “bug juice”.

Later he tried farming, his first love, and installing septic systems. Mr. Tubbs was a charter member of Hawthorne Baptist Church and a long term member and Deacon Emeritus at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev.

Lynn King and the Rev. Phill Hall officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Survivors include his three daughters, Linda Tubbs Bell and husband, Larry, Paula Tubbs Hooper and Mickey Tubbs Jones and husband, Donald, all of Dyersburg; one sister, Frances Sanford of Dyersburg; two brothers, Paul Tubbs of Minnesota and Larry Tubbs of Texas; two grandchildren, Jamey Jones Attaway and husband, Jeremy, and Jenney Jones Beasley; and five great-grandchildren, Brayden Beasley, Abigail Willard, Blake Attaway, Bailey Willard and Lillie Bett Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Bettye Jean Kenney Tubbs; and two sisters, Juanita Bivens and Martha Baker.

Pallbearers will be Steve Roberts, Donald Keith Baker, Larry Tubbs, Jr., Tony Tubbs, Billy Douglas Bivens and Bobby Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Bivens and James Bivens.
