Obituary for Irene Cook Irene Cook went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at age 85. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, William “Bill” Cook; two daughters, Judith (Jerry) Carter and Valarie (Tommy) Riggs; seven grandchildren, Jacob (Lindsey) Ray, William Jordan Ray, Laney Riggs, Harrison Riggs, Dalton Riggs, Bailey Riggs, and Conner Carter; one great grandson, Levi Ray; and other extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and six siblings.

Irene was a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church for over 50 years where she was a member of the choir for most of those years. She retired from AT&T after 20 years of service. She was a former member of the Gardendale Garden Club and Red Hat Society.

She was a talented artist and loved to play bridge. Most of all, she loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at The New Gardendale Funeral Home.
