Iren Bonham Obituary Photo

Obituary of Irene Bonham Irene Bonham passed away at home on October 20, 2018. She was 97 years old. She was born September 9, 1921 in Angus, Ontario, Canada to Clarence and Clara (Berg) Kennedy, moving to the United States as an infant with her mother and older brother.

Irene loved her family dearly and held a special place in her heart for all her grandchildren. She shared a love of photography with her husband, Henry, and took many ribbons at Fair for her photos, beautiful works of crochet and hand spun wool yarns. She was preceded in death by her first love and husband of 18 years, Tom Simpson and her beloved husband of 42 years, Henry Bonham, as well as infant son Doug Simpson, grandson Jeff Bonham, brothers Lloyd Kennedy and Burley Norton and sister Beverly Maryott.

Throughout her life, Irene never knew a stranger and all who entered her house as a guest, left as a friend. When her children were small, hers was the most popular home in the neighborhood, where all the kids gathered, knowing she always took time to provide arts and crafts, games, and where she would include them all in overnight “campouts” in the backyard, and lead neighborhood bicycle rides. She was an amazing role model to her children and many of their friends and was fondly called “Mrs. B” or “Grandma B” by many.

She spent the last half of her life as a farm wife, a role she embraced and excelled in. Irene had a strong faith that she lived by her whole life, and her family finds comfort that she is dancing with the angels and her loved ones who went before. She is survived by her children, Maureen Bonham of Shelton, WA; Archie (Laurece) Bonham of Lyle, WA; Linda (Mike) Kelly, Tillamook, OR; and Sandy (TJ) Alley of Appleton, WA; 13 grandchildren and many great- and great-great grandchildren.

She was dearly loved and will be missed by all her family. A memorial service will be planned for the spring.
