J. Richard “JR” Detwiler, 79, Duncansville, passed away Tuesday at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Kenneth and Gertrude (Hall) Detwiler. He married Dorcas A. Sollenberger and she preceded him in death in 2011, after 52 years of marriage.

Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Duraso and husband, Daniel Sr., of Duncansville; two sons: Richard K. and wife, Donna, in California, and David F. and wife, Julie, of Bedford; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters: Mary J. Dinger and Diana Glunt; and two brothers: Edward and Charles. He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Marlene and a brother, Alan. JR attended Hollidaysburg High School and retired from the Conrail Sam Rea Shops as a welder.

He enjoyed working on cars and playing the lottery. Friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018, and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held afterward at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Southern Care Hospice, 1701 12th Ave.
