Obituary James B. Evans October 20, 1937 – February 4, 2019 James B. Evans went to be with his Lord and Savior, February 4, 2019, surrounded by family at his daughter’s home. He was 81. He was born in Gattman, Mississippi, to Emmett Bernard Evans and Bessie Capitala Felkins Evans on October 20, 1937.

James was a resident of La Vernia, Texas for 57 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Walter B. Evans, his great granddaughter Molly Mei Warzecha, and his sister Bettie Mae Blaylock (Ken). He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary A. Evans; and daughter Janey Maria Benavides (Larry) of Leon Springs, TX.

Grandchildren Leslie Ann Kunz (Fred, and their daughter Hadley Kathryn) of Nevada, TX; Vanessa Marie Warzecha (Joseph, and their children Madeleine Brooke, Connor James, Cooper Joseph, Cohen Joshua, Mary Elizabeth, and Magnolia Mei Hope) of Boerne, TX; Walter B. Evans Jr (Lindsey, and their son George Samuel) of Panama City, FL; Dr. Philip James Benavides (Dr. Kim Pham) of Leon Springs, TX; Laura Marie Benavides (her son Declan James) of Boerne, TX; Benjamin B. Evans (Catherine, and their son Bode Gray) of New Braunfels, TX; Sarah Elizabeth Scheidt (Kirk) of Colorado Springs, CO; and Ola Bernice Thomas (George) of LaVernia, TX. James worked for the Asbestos Workers Union #87 for 25 years in San Antonio. He also worked for Parkway and HEB for 35 years.

He most recently spent 14 years serving the Lord and others in multiple ministries in La Vernia and San Antonio. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the La Vernia Christian Teaching Center, 10688 US-87, La Vernia, TX 78121.
