James “Jim” Lee Vanhoy, 70, went to tee up for his last 18 on May 27, 2018. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 7:00PM Thursday May 31, 2018 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Murray officiating.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00PM until time for the service at the church on Thursday. There will be a social following the services at the church fellowship hall. A native of Forsyth County, Jim was the son of the late Vera Lee Macy and James Taylor Vanhoy.

In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his son Taylor Vanhoy, sisters Mary Weavil, Nan Beeson, and Joann Durham. Jim was a 1968 graduate of East Forsyth High School. He had served his country with the United States Army, doing a tour of Vietnam from 1968 to 1970.

Jim was retired from Piedmont Sheet Metal in Winston-Salem. He loved his golf and was a member of Pine Knolls Men’s Golf Association. Jim loved his golf, his family and his Lord.

He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he served as Building and Grounds superintendant. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years Kathy Richardson Vanhoy of the home; son Travis Vanhoy and Angie of Winston-Salem; grandchildren Brandon V., Skyla, Mackenzie, Maria, Madalyn, Brandon S., and Ashley; great-grandson Blake; sister Avahlee Manuel of Kernersville; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
