James Kenneth Gleeson, 85, of Fulton, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Boone Hospital, Columbia, Missouri. Jim was born in Bluffton, Missouri on November 21, 1932, a son of the late William & Emma (Stiers) Gleeson. Jim completed 12 years of school and graduated from Hermann High School.

He then joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean War as a radar man. He was the husband of June (Hinrichs) Gleeson. They were united in marriage on May 12, 1956, at St. Martin’s Church, Starkenburg, MO.

June survives him at their home. Jim is also survived by their four children, Randy Gleeson & wife Kelly, of Fulton; Julaine Grimpo & husband Rich, of Fulton; Sheryl Gleeson, of St. Croix, USVI; and Rose Gleeson & fiance’ Joel Andrews, of St. Croix, USVI; by three sisters, Nadine Clark, of Ellisville, Missouri; Pat Bahr, of Mexico, Missouri; and Dorothy Markelon, of South Windsor, Connecticut; a brother Ralph Gleeson, of Fulton, and by five grandchildren, Brandon Price, Jenna & Kelsy Meyer, and Karli & Kamryn Gleeson. He is preceded in death by his parents, by brothers, Paul, Ed, and John Gleeson and his sisters, Martha Markelon, Verona Theissen, Bernadine Long, and Marcella Martin and two infant brothers.

After marriage Jim & June lived in St. Louis for a short period. Then they lived, farmed, and raised their family in the Rhineland area until retirement. After retirement they moved to Fulton, Missouri.

Jim loved spending time with family and friends, working in his flower garden, coon hunting, farming, playing cards, listening to country music, and playing with his kitty. Jim and June were long time members at St. Martin’s Church at Starkenburg until moving to Fulton. They then joined St. Peter’s Church in Fulton.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 29th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin’s Church, Starkenburg, where the funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Msgr. Gregory Higley officiating.

Burial will be at St. Martin’s Cemetery, Starkenburg, Missouri. Memorials may be given to St. Martins Church. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
