Obituary for James P. Snow July 23, 1933 – April 21, 2018 James P. Snow, 84, Altoona, passed away Saturday at home. He was born in Philadelphia, son of James and Catherine (Costello) Snow. He married Connie Swift on Oct.

12, 1968, in Horseheads, N.Y. Surviving are his wife, Connie; two sons: John Snow of Williamsburg, Va. , and Gregory Snow of Pittsburgh; and three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Long.

James was a 1951 graduate of North Catholic High School, Philadelphia, a 1962 graduate of Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing for Men, and a 1967 graduate of Misericordia Anesthesia School, Dallas, Pa. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, receiving the Navy Unit Commendation for service in Korea. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1973, where he received the Bronze Star Medal for service in Vietnam.

He then served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1973 to 1993. He was employed as a certified registered nurse anesthetist at Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona, from 1973 until retirement in 2011. James was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona, and the Swiss Rifle Club and V.F.W.

He enjoyed shooting, reading, aviation history and spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Father Ronald V. Osinski celebrant.

Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Altoona. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or to St. Vincent de Paul Diocesan Council, P.O. Box 231, Altoona, PA 16603.
