Obituary for James William Lennon James William Lennon, 75, of Matthews, NC, and formerly of West Suffield, CT, died October 4, 2018, at Novant Medical Center Presbyterian Campus in Charlotte. James was born in Carmel, California, on November 15, 1942, the son of James Albert an Charlice May Wilson Lennon. He graduated from Copiague High School in Long Island, NY, and then attended Brooklyn Poly Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Through the ROTC program, he was commissioned a 2nd Lt in the United States Army. On June 20, 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Ms. Priscilla Powell. Upon an honorable discharge, he worked for Hamilton Standard of UTC in Windsor Locks, CT, for 35 years.
He was stationed at Ft Campbell, KY and then stationed overseas in Thailand. They then returned to UTC. He then attended Hartford University where he obtained his Masters in Business Administration.
James was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Suffield, CT (known as the Composite Lodge today). He also enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. He was also active in the Suffield JC’s where he was president for two years, 1971-1972, as well as serving on the board of finance and police commission board in Suffield.
In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening. Most of all, James loved the time spent with family and friends. James is survived by his wife, Priscilla Lennon of Matthews and previously of West Suffield, CT; his oldest daughter, Carol Lennon of Lawton, OK, and her children Sierra and Savannah Joslin; and his youngest daughter, Janet (husband Karl) Pepin of Monroe, NC, and their children Olivia and Lacey Pepin.
He is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Lennon family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for them.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, October 12, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. On Saturday, a service to celebrate the life, love and blessing of James led by Fr. Todd of St Margaret Episcopal Church will be held at 10 am in the funeral home chapel.
Following the service, James will be taken in formal procession to his final place of earthly rest at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, where he will receive his final military honors and committal.
