Obituary for Jane Lucille (Young) Schaefer Following a long life dedicated to serving her family, church, and community, Jane Lucille (Young) Schaefer died at rest, and in her Lord’s arms at Monday’s dawning, 18 November 2018. She was ninety-five. Jane was the devoted wife of Jesse Lawrence Schaefer (19 January 1923 – 4 July 2011), to whom she was married for sixty-nine years; and upon his death, while at his side, she paused, lowered her head, and said, “Well, there goes the love of my life”.

Across a somewhat different sixty-nine-year span, their home was 989 E. Philadelphia St. in York’s east end. Her immediate survivors are a daughter, Carol Ann (Schaefer) Miller of Wernersville, PA, and a son, Thomas L. Schaefer of Glenshaw, PA. Like Jesse, her final act of giving was willing her body to the Humanity Gifts Registry in Philadelphia, for science and medical education.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday 8 December 2018 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 397 Tyler Run Road, York, with a gathering and a luncheon immediately following to share in fellowship and remembrance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Aldersgate U M Church, 397 Tyler Run Rd. , York, Pa.
