Janelle was born in Allen County on April 20, 1933 and attended Chandlers Chapel School. She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Tommy, a daughter Lana Michile Hayes, her parents Herman and Eva Crowder Hughes, a sister, Rose Hughes Barbee, and a brother Bennie Murl Hughes and several nieces and nephews.

She was employed by Potter Brumfield, Franklin Ky and was a member of Auburn Auxiliary Legion Post 258 and a member of New Life Baptist Church of Auburn. She was also an active participant of Auburn Senior Citizen Center. Survivors include a daughter, Jana Hayes Hanks (Charles Kelley), her treasured grandchildren Laura Hanks Petrino (Josh) of Charleston, SC and Keeton Hanks of Auburn, and two beloved great grandchildren Roman and Adair Petrino, and two grand dogs, Miss Molly and Cruze.

Janelle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed pretty sunshine days, visiting with special friends, working word search puzzles, and talking about her grand and great-grandchildren. She was such a loving sweet soul who found the best in everything.

and was a friend to all who knew her. She had a sweet loving spirit and loved her family so much. A celebration of Janelle’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 26 with visitation beginning at 11:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm at Young’s Funeral Home in Auburn with burial following at Auburn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shriners Hospital for Children and New Life Baptist Church of Auburn. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
