She was born in Warren County, Kentucky on April 13, 1934 to the late Dewey B. and Ina Mae (Garrett) Breakfield. Shirley was a member of the Auburn Christian Church and attended New Life.

She worked as a Bookkeeper with Scotts Auburn Mills, Auburn Banking Company and Jasper Breakfield Roofing Company. Shirley is preceded in death by her first husband H. T. York, her second husband Joe Deckard, two sisters Betty Sue Miller and Brenda Stewart and a niece Tammy Waterson. She is survived by her: Son John Turner York (Beverly) of Auburn, two brothers Billy Breakfield (Frankie) and Jasper Breakfield (Loretta) both of Bowling Green, sister Mary Howard (Billie Joe) of Atlanta, two grandchildren Halle York and Erica Bedel and two great grandchildren Lauren and Lawrence.

Funeral services for Shirley Deckard will be conducted Monday, February 4, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in the Young Funeral Home Auburn Chapel with Bro. Steve Whittinghill officiating and burial to follow in the Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Monday from 8:00 A.M. until funeral time at 1:00 P.M. The family ask that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Associating.

Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
