JANET STOCKTON Janet Marena Larie Stockton, 88, of Quincy, passed away at 2:05 p.m. Friday (November 16, 2018) at her home surrounded by her family. Born December 30, 1929 in Quincy, Janet was the daughter of Gordon and Margaret Young Thrasher. She married Allen Kent Stockton on May 28, 1955 at Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church in Quincy.

He survives. Janet was a longtime member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ where she was active with the Couples Club, Afternoon Women’s Guild, Salem Quilters, Salem Youth Groups and numerous Bible study groups. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking and tending to her garden.

Janet and Kent were avid fans of St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Quincy Blue Devils basketball. A 1947 graduate of Quincy High School, Janet attended Gem City Business College. She was employed by the State of Illinois Department of Human Services and then at Quincy Casket Company.

She later was employed Moorman Manufacturing for many years until her retirement. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Kent; four children, Nancy Schodroski (Bill) of Quincy, Jeff Stockton (Judy) of Macomb, IL, Lisa Potts (Bill) of Dacono, CO and Scot Stockton (Melissa) of Laveen, AZ; seven grandchildren, Will Schodroski, Maggie Kistner (Patrick), Elizabeth “E.J.” Terwelp (Tanner), Jonathan Stockton (Hannah), Jade Stockton, Savannah Stockton and Faith Stockton; three great grandchildren, Emmy Kistner, Daxton Kistner and Cooper Stockton; two sisters, Marylyn Mock and Maxine Hawk both of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; a brother in infancy; and two brothers in law, Howard Mock and Bill Hawk.

Memorial services will be held Monday afternoon at 3:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Disseler officiating. Visitation will be Monday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Unity Point Hospice or Salem Church.
