Mrs. Janie “Ruth”‘s Obituary We all have an appointment with God, though we know neither the date nor the hour. On Wednesday evening, December 12, 2018, a devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, family member and friend got the call for her appointment. Not wanting to disappoint or be late, Janie Ruth kept her appointed time and took wings to her home in Glory.

Janie Ruth Middleton Randolph was born February 27, 1947, in Eutawville, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cicero (Mary Lee) Middleton, granddaughter of the late Rev. Moses Lee, Sr. and wife of Pete Randolph.

During Ruth’s professional career, she served in various capacities in various places including Dorchester School District II, Oneida Silver Outlet, and MUSC. However, the position that brought her the most joy was rearing two of her grandchildren, Imani and Marshall. They were “The Apple of Her Eye”.

Ruth was a faithful and active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and formerly Hill Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Until her recent illness, she served her church and community graciously. Ruth leaves to cherish her precious memories: her spouse, Pete Randolph of the home; two sons: Michael Middleton, Eutawville, SC and Alfonso Randolph, Sr., Holly Hill, SC; Four grandchildren Marshal, Imani, Alphonso, Jr. and Shantel Shinuald; Mother-in-law, Rena Weldon Randolph, Raleigh, NC; three sisters: Julia Jackson and Wilhelmena Middleton, Brooklyn, NY; Carol (Phil) Briggman, Orangeburg, SC; three brothers: Moses (Dollie) Middleton, Eutawville, SC; Robert (Anna) Middleton and Abraham (Janet) Middleton, Orangeburg, SC; three sisters-in-law: Amanda (David) Sweatman, Janie (Johnnie) Smalls and Eula Gruggins all of Holly Hill, SC; four brothers-in-law: Olin (Mae) Randolph, and Richard Randolph, Holly Hill, SC; George (Gerald) Randolph, Orangeburg, SC; and John (Lorenzo) Randolph, Boston, MA; and many, many relatives and friends.
