Jay Lavern Kellogg Lansing Went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the age of 92. Born February 28, 1926 to Erman and Mabel Kellogg in Lansing, Michigan. Jay honorably served his country in the US Navy where he was stationed in both Hawaii and San Diego.

Upon his honorable discharge he went to work for Oldsmobile and later retired from the Parts & Services Division. As a grandchild of the founders of the Lansing City Rescue Mission, Jay was active in the mission and held it very near to his heart.

Jay enjoyed cars and liked to tinker with them. He was a weightlifter and also enjoyed watching boxing. Jay was a big MSU fan and especially liked watching the Spartan football and basketball teams’ play.

Most of all, Jay loved his family and all the time he was able to spend with them. He will be dearly missed by all who remember him. Preceding him in death were his granddaughter, Yvonne Petke; brothers, Leon Kellogg, Robert Kellogg; sister, Eleanor Smith; half-brother, Charles Updyke and half-sister, Doris Hawn.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Kellogg; children, Nancy (Garry) Trammell, Ken Kellogg; Karen (Gene) Turcotte; grandchildren, Brandon Kellogg, Brittany (Brent) Strabbing, Shawn (Leigha) Zendler, Victoria Turcotte, Collin Turcotte, Lauren (Brian) Brooks, Eliza Gaston; great grandchildren, Remi Zendler, Weston Zendler, Brent Strabbing III, Brad Strabbing, Logan Brooks, Isaac Brooks, Dylan Gaston, Zachary Gaston we well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Skinner Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel. Family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
