Jean I. Johnson, 80, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. She was born June 16, 1938 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Ted and Irene (Holmes) Johnson. She was a lifelong resident of this area and was a 1956 graduate of Iron Mountain High School.

Jean was a telephone operator at Michigan Bell for many years and retired in 1989 from AT&T. She was also a church organist at First Lutheran Church. Jean enjoyed all kinds of music.

She played with the Singing Strings for years. She also loved to travel and had a group call Travel With Friends. She is survived by a niece, Justine Block of Providence, RI; a nephew, Eric Johnson of Martha’s Vineyard, MA; cousins, Lois Swanson of Iron Mountain and Connie DeMeuse of Arizona; and a very special friend and caregiver, Alice Nicholas.

Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Ted Johnson of MA. There will be a graveside service at Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain Friday, April 5th, at 2:00 PM. Pastor Paul Strom will officiate.
