Carolyn M. Thomas 71, of Kingsford, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Dickinson County Hospital. Carolyn was born on July 2, 1947 in Hancock, MI, daughter of Wilbert and Vivian (Aho) Store. She was raised in The Copper Country and graduated from Mass City High School.

She continued her education at Northern Michigan University and received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Carolyn married Floyd Thomas on August 12, 1967 in Kingsford. They were longtime residents of this area.

Carolyn worked as a LPN for Dickinson County Hospital System for many years. She was a member of First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain and a member of the church’s singing strings. She was also a volunteer at Northpointe Behavioral System for several years.

Carolyn loved music and was a talented musician. She played numerous instruments including the drums, bass guitar and acoustic guitar. She and her husband played in several local bands over the years.

Carolyn loved to travel and toured many states around the country. She is survived by her son, Scott (Jennifer) Thomas of Iron Mountain; her mother, Vivian Store of Ontonagon; son in law, Jeff Hautamaki of Iron Mountain; sister, Linda (Robert) Murway of Denver, CO; grandchildren, McKenzie (Keith) Drucker, Johnathon Thomas, Heather Hautamaki, Caitlyn (Ethan) Hausmann and Elyssa (Nick) Salin; great grandson, Kendrick Fuller. Also by nieces and nephews, Kristopher Murway, Crystal Bradley, Waylon Store, Billy Store and Penny Store.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd on July 5, 1979, her daughter, Becky Hautamaki and brother, Randy Store. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 21st from 10:00am – 12:00noon at the First Covenant Church of Iron Mountain. Memorial services will follow at 12:00 noon at the church.

Pastor Tom Lach will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. Condolences to the family of Carolyn Thomas may be expressed online at www.
