Jeanette Catherine Pelon Kamp, aka Moon, age 93, died March 17, after complications following influenza. Born in 1925 to Dutch immigrant parents, Bartel Pelon and Jacomina DeVries; Moon was raised in Englewood, Chicago. Moon told many stories about growing up in Chicago with ice boxes for refrigerators and delivery men who drove horse and buggies.

After WWII, as a young adult, she moved to Grand Haven, MI which Moon often said seemed like a mini-paradise. While living in Grand Haven, she met and married her partner-in-fun, Donald Kamp. They were married for 46 years and resided in Spring Lake.

Moon is survived by her son, Timothy Kamp, and daughter, Kimber Sprik (Sherman), as well as seven grandchildren: Nathan (Petra), Jon, Isaac (Maria), Ezra, Caleb, Lydia, and Anna. Her niece, Sharm Groh, and friends Jean Stevens and Joseph Conte deserve special mention; these friends helped her traverse this last year without her wheels and provided immense support. Moon’s nine decades of living put her in the position of having to say goodbye to her loving husband, many friends, and her entire birth family.

A woman of quiet and abiding faith, she lived her life with courage, humor, and candor—truly caring about people and their stories. Moon has left her mark on the many lives she touched; she will be greatly missed. Much loved by many, her remarkable life will be celebrated at 11:30am, Thursday, March 21 at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church with Rev.

Petra Sprik officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation or the Cancer Research Institute.

The family is being served by Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services – The Spring Lake Chapel. Share memories with the family at their online guest book at www. sytsemafh.com.
