Jeanette J. DeSimone Lucas, longtime resident of Freedom N.H., formerly of Franklin, MA, entered into eternity on Monday October 29, 2018 surrounded be her loving children. Jeanette was born in Boston on June 24, 1930 to the late Michael and Angelina (Guarnera) DeSimone, grew up in Winthrop MA, and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1948. Jeanette was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Francis G. Lucas, to whom she was married for 63 years.

Jeanette was also predeceased by her sisters Barbara DeSimone Bartlett, formerly of Alexandria, NH and Lorraine DeSimone, formerly of Falmouth, MA, her brother Donald P. DeSimone of Boston, MA and by her family’s loyal and devoted canine companion “Lady”. She leaves behind five children and three grandchildren: Marian Lucas of Freedom, NH, Paula (Stephen) Bennett of, of Norton MA and her son Matthew Morris of Wilmington, NC Francis (Nadine) Lucas Jr., of Eugene OR, Jeanette Lucas Kazijian (James) of Bellingham, MA and their children Ryan and Ashley, and Mark L. (Annmarie) Lucas, Esq. , of Helena, MT.

She is in addition survived by many loving nieces and nephews, relatives and lifelong friends. Jeanette worked first as a typist, then as a bookkeeper and finally served as an office manager, and graduated from Dean College in Franklin, MA at the age of 60. She moved to Freedom NH in 1989 and continued to work part-time at Huggins Hospital.

Jeanette cherished gathering her family around the table to enjoy her unparalleled Italian cooking and scrumptious baked goods. She supported many charities including the Southern Poverty Law Center and local charities such as Jen’s Friends, which provides support to New Hampshire cancer patients and their families. She and Frank travelled extensively, first by air in their younger years, and later in their RV.

Jeanette enjoyed musicals, dancing, occasional trips to casinos and crocheting hats and scarves for her family, friends, and cancer patients at Dana Farber in Boston. Calling hours will be Thursday, November 1st, from 4-8 p.m. at Lord Funeral Home at 23 Club Road in Wolfeboro, NH. Graveside services and burial will be Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jeanette’s name to the Carroll County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program in Conway New Hampshire.
