Jesse Wayne Johnson Sr., Age 77, of Big Prairie, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Cleveland Clinic. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastors Josiah Martin and Rob Martin officiating.

Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Online tributes may be made at www. RobertsFuneralHome.com.

Memorial contributions may be made to God’s Word Bible Church, 12740 Co Hwy 330, Big Prairie, OH 44611. Jesse was born January 31, 1941 in Bremen, KY to Johnnie and Arlene {Skaggs} Johnson. Jesse served in the National Guard for seven years.

He married Mary Ann McCluggage on May 27, 1961. He was a member of God’s Word Bible Church in Big Prairie. Jesse enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, reading, and spending time with his family.

He was a founding member of his church and was known as “The Candy Man”. Jesse loved watching the Cleveland Indians. Jesse will be deeply missed by his wife; children, Jesse W. (Elizabeth) Johnson Jr. of Wooster, Vickie (Bob) Bevington of Nashville, and John (Jason Marks) Johnson of Canton; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren; brothers Jimmy, Orvalle both of Wooster, Ronnie of Wytheville, VA, and Johnnie of Wooster; and sister Brenda McKinney of Big Prairie.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents and brother Louie.
