Jessica “Jay” R. Galgozy of Warren passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 4:02 a.m. in Mercy Health – St. Joseph Warren Hospital. She was 61. Jay was born on November 30, 1957 in Warren, the daughter of the late Robert and Pearl Johnson Matulis.

She was a 1976 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, following high school she attended classes for nursing at Youngstown State University. Mrs. Galgozy retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Niles and the surrounding areas. Jay was of Christian faith.

She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed working in her garden, had a love for animals, especially dogs and horses, collecting Scooby Doo Christmas ornaments and various coffee mugs. She looked forward to her trips to Outback Steak House with her granddaughter Hailey and cherished the memories she made with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Donald Galgozy, whom she married in 1998; 2 children, Amanda DeCesare of Warren and Amber Galgozy of Niles; 2 grandchildren, Hailey Smith and Robert Smith; a sister, Kathy (Gene) Busse of Niles; a niece and 3 nephews; Jay’s best friend and partner in crime, Linda Smith of Youngstown.
