Jewel’s Obituary Jewel Mae Jarred, 87, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at her residence. She was born on February 17, 1931, in Chickasaw, Oklahoma, to the late Chester “Dutch” Wilbanks and the late Patty Reese Wilbanks. Jewel was a retired accounting clerk of McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach, California, where she worked for 20 years.

She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where she was active in Young at Heart and she also attended the Community Bible Study at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Jewel served as a volunteer for the Dyersburg/Dyer County Union Mission and was also the Past Matron of the Eastern Star. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev.

Lynn King officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her son, Michael Jarred of Dyersburg; a step-son, Charles Jarred and wife, Gina, of McKenzie; two grandchildren, Betty Jewel Jarred (Wilson) and Christie Jarred Carter; five great-grandchildren, Sara Wilson, Tristin Wilson, Beth Ann Ownby, Brandie Ownby and Courtney Gatewood; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Jarred. Pallbearers will be Roy Childress, Shelton Jones, Toby Horner, Bill Pike, Buster Gibson and Jeremy Attaway.

Memorials may be directed to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 825 Hillcrest Avenue, Dyersburg, TN 38024.
