Obituary of Jimmy Thompson Jimmy Mason Thompson, age 85, of Troy, NC died Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Autumn Care Nursing & Rehabilitation, Biscoe. Mr. Thompson was born May 28, 1932 in Montgomery County, the son of the late Rankin Thompson and the late Hellon Harris Thompson. Mr. Thompson was retired from the Montgomery Herald where he was a Pressman for 45 years.

He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed fishing and Nascar Racing. He was known to be an avid New York Yankee’s Fan. He is survived by his wife, Daphne Gay Thompson; sons: Fred Thompson and wife Shelia of Troy, NC and Ken Thompson of Charlotte, NC; grandson: Chris Gillis of Troy, NC; and great-granddaughter: Mya Gillis of Troy, NC; sisters: Audrey DeBerry, of Troy, NC; and Ret.

Col. Pat Thompson and wife, Barbara Brass, of Roseville, CA. He was preceded in death by brother Fred Thompson and sister Betty Ann Beaman.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM at First Wesleyan Church, 1368 Hwy. 134 N., Troy, NC 27371. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 PM with Dr. Edward E. Lindsey officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to First Wesleyan Church, 1368 Hwy. 134 N. Troy, NC 27371, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, 38105, and Community Home Care and Hospice, 1024 Albemarle Rd. , Troy, NC 27371.
