Joan Brown Mortuary Merrill , February 09, 1935 — May 03, 2018

Joan Nadine Brown Merrill, 83, of Pleasant Grove, peacefully returned home to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 3, 2018 with her children at her side. Joan was born February 9, 1935 in Pocatello, Idaho to Vernon and Gladys Brown, the fifth of seven children. She met the love of her life Ralph Merrill in Pocatello and they were sealed together as an eternal family on November 27, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Joan grew up in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School and later attended Idaho State University. Joan was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She always put her family before herself and was always the friend who was willing to go the extra mile to be of service to others.

Her home was the place where bridal and baby showers, holiday parties, and guests were enjoyed. She was a woman of faith and served in many leadership positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints–as a Stake Relief Society President, Ward Relief Society President, Ward Young Woman’s President, Mt. Timpanogos Temple Worker in additional to serving faithfully in many other callings.

However, she often mentioned that one of her favorite experiences was working with the Cub Scout program and assisted her sons in achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. She is survived by her husband Ralph; five children: Russell (Laurie) Merrill, Jeffrey (Cindy) Merrill, Steven (Tori) Merrill, Douglas (Camille) Merrill and Melinda (Charles) O’Neal; eleven grandsons and nine granddaughters; nine great-grandsons and eight great-granddaughters; two brothers and a sister: AC Brown, Denny (Geraldine) Brown and Norlene (Wayne) Barney. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Darold Brown, Reese Brown and Ted Brown.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 20187 at 11:00 am in the Pleasant Grove East Stake Center where family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:00-10:45 am prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.
