Joan’s Obituary CHILHOWIE, VA Joan Duncan age 82 of Chilhowie, VA, passed away on Thursday December 20, 2018 at the Valley Health Care Center. She was born on July 20, 1936, daughter of the late S.W. Feathers and Hattie Spangler. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Feathers.

Joan was a longtime active member of St. James Lutheran Church, having made many of the banners still used today. She was also active in the Wanna Be Quilters. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 62 years Doug Duncan; sons Donnie Duncan & wife Sandra, and Dave Duncan & wife Susan; sister Barbara Dewberry; grandchildren Wesley Duncan & wife Jessica, Mark Duncan, Aimee Taylor & husband McKinsey, Kelsey Brown & husband Andrew; great grandchildren Ellie, Evan, Killian, Graham; and several nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday December 23, 2018 from the St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor Harvey Atkinson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00PM on Sunday afternoon at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. James Lutheran Church or the Wanna Be Quilters c/o St. James Lutheran Church, P.O.Box 796, Chilhowie, VA, 24319.
