Obituary for John D. Nash John Nash passed away October 31, 2018 at the age of 97 ½. He was born on April 18, 1921 in Peru, Indiana. He grew up on the family farm until the depression.

He graduated from Peru High School in 1939 and Central Indiana Business School in Fort Wayne in 1941. He spent the later years of his career in Anderson at Recreation Equipment Corp. After retirement, he opened Honest John’s Used Car Lot which reflected his lifelong love of automobiles.

He also dabbled in residential and commercial real estate for the next 30 years. When faced with an empty building or maintenance issue, he would refer to that as being one of the joys of being a landlord. He married Mildred Stahn on November 13, 1942 and raised three children: Karen Miller, Nancy West, and John Robert Nash.

After Mildred’s death in 1980, John married Violet Dudderar until her death in 2011. He is survived by his 2 daughters, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 5 sisters, and other family members. John was a long time member of New Horizons Methodist Church in Anderson.

He was an avid old car enthusiast, and owned numerous classic cars. He was a long time member of the Nash Car Club, the Central Indiana Old Car Club, and the Model A Restorers Club. He was a dedicated participant in Community Hospitals’ cardiac rehab program, which he followed faithfully for over 30 years.

Music was always an important part of his life and he learned how to play the Lowry Organ later in life. He volunteered at local nursing homes to entertain their residents. He was a positive role model, and he impressed on his family the attitude of not worrying.

He always said that 9 out of 10 things people worry about never happen anyway! His love of pies was legendary. After not eating lunch on the afternoon of his death, a friend brought him a piece of pie, which he quickly devoured.

It is only fitting that it be the last food he had. Services will be held at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson on Wednesday, November 7. Visitation will be from 1 – 3, and the funeral services will be held at 3 pm, followed by a processional to the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
