Obituary for John De Hoop JOHN DE HOOP JANUARY 11, 1933 – APRIL 14, 2018 JOHN DE HOOP, 85, PASSED AWAY SATURDAY AT HIS HOME IN VALLEJO, SURROUNDED BY HIS FAMILY. BORN IN HOLLAND, JOHN’S PARENTS IMMIGRATED TO RIPON, CA, IN DECEMBER 1948 WITH ONE DAUGHTER, NELLY AND THREE SONS, JOHN, THYS AND TED. THEY SETTLED IN THE RIPON – MANTECA AREA.

JOHN WAS DRAFTED TO AND SERVED IN THE US ARMY IN JAN. 1953-1955. HE LATER ATTENDED SACRAMENTO STATE UNIVERSITY ON THE GI BILL AND WORKED AT THE SOLANO COUNTY AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT AS A BIOLOGIST FOR 30 YEARS, RETIRING IN 1992.

JOHN MARRIED THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE, DELLIE HERNANDEZ, IN 1980, WHO PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH IN 2007. IN THIS MARRIAGE HE FOUND A FABULOUS SECOND FAMILY AND HAD A LASTING RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM. SURVIVORS INCLUDE THREE CHILDREN, TWO FROM HIS FIRST MARRIAGE, CHERI LINDKE AND DAN DE HOOP AND A STEPSON, RAY HERNANDEZ; EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN AND TEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.

VISITATION WILL BE HELD 4-8 PM THURSDAY, APRIL 19 AND FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD 11 AM FRIDAY, APRIL 20 AT TWIN CHAPELS MORTUARY, 1100 TENNESSEE STREET, VALLEJO WITH PASTOR WENDY KOMORI STAGER OF COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT ALL SOULS CEMETERY, VALLEJO IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTION ARE PREFERRED TO THE American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or the UCSF Liver Disease and Liver Transplant Center, 350 Parnassus Ave. , Suite 300, San Francisco, CA 94143.
