John Franklin Dew October 19, 1925 – March 28, 2019 John Franklin Dew, 93, known as Frank or by most in the community as the “telephone man”, was called home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2019. Frank was born on October 19, 1925 in Many, LA to Willie Ambrose and Helen Elizabeth Hayes Dew. He attended and graduated from Many High School and joined the United States Navy after graduation serving in World War II.

After serving our country, Frank was employed by Bellsouth Telephone installing and repairing phones for fellow Sabine parish residents for the next 45 years. Frank was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and served as Chaplain. He also was as a Shriner and assisted in raising funds for Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Frank served as Deacon and Sunday school teacher at Mt. Freedom Baptist Church for over 60 years. Frank loved all his family from distant cousins to immediate family members and always loved spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Clarice Miller Dew, daughter Deborah Dew Adair and husband Jack of Natchitoches, grandson Todd Adair of Stonewall, granddaughter Kerri Adair Nichols and husband Brandon of Alexandria. Also left to cherish his memory are great-granddaughter Erin Beard and husband Sage of Shreveport, great-grandchildren Wyatt, Elizabeth, and Trinity Adair of Stonewall, and great-grandson Reed Nichols of Alexandria, sister Betty Dew Welch of Houston, TX. Frank also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews that he cherished dearly.

He is predeceased by his parents Willie Ambrose and Helen Elizabeth Hayes Dew, siblings Homer Dew of Natchitoches, Verlyn Dew Turner of Jefferson, TX, Kenneth R. Dew of Many, Aloyesse Dew Tidwell of Many, and grandson Tedd Alan Adair. Frank’s visitation will be at Warren Meadows Funeral Home beginning at 4pm for family and 5pm for friends on Saturday, March 30, 2019. Services will be held at Warren Meadows Funeral Home at 2pm on Sunday, March 31, 2019, officiated by Bro.

Wayne Chance. Pallbearers will be members of the Many Masonic Lodge 411. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Shriners Children’s Hospital is welcome.
