John William Hobbs, 47, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 25, 2018, at Franciscan St. Francis Bone Marrow Transplant Unit surrounded by his loving family. John had been a patient there for the past week, from which he had fought a long and courageous battle against cancer for the past eighteen years. John was born April 30, 1971, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Darrell and Diane (King) Hobbs.

John had many life achievements with the greatest being his children. In 1989, he graduated from Connersville High School. During his younger years, he was a member of the football, baseball, and basketball teams.

In 1993, he married the love of his life, Candi Watson Hobbs; to which he had the pleasure of sharing the greatest loves of his life, his children: Kayla and Brandon. John loved his children more than life itself. John owned and operated Hobbs Metal Finishing in Richmond, Indiana until the time he was diagnosed with Non-Hodkin Lymphoma in 2000, a battle he courageously battled over the past eighteen years.

John’s greatest joys in life were watching his children, Kayla cheerlead, and Brandon play baseball, basketball, and football during their school years. John also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, father, brother, cousins, and friends. He enjoyed racing of any kind, especially dirt track racing and the time it brought him with his family.

John was an outdoorsman but had no greater love than that for which he had for his children. John also had a tremendous amount of love for his Schitzu “Carter”. He is survived by his daughter, Kayla Hobbs, and fiancé, Sean Rhine; a son, Brandon Hobbs; his parents, Darrell and Diane Hobbs; his brother, Chad Hobbs; special uncle, Davey King; a nephew, Hunter Hobbs; nieces, Haley and Hana Hobbs; maternal grandparents, David and Wilma King; the love of his life, Candi Hobbs; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family for which he will be greatly missed.
