Irene Annabelle Grizzell, 88, of Laurel, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 27, 2018, at Heritage House of Connersville. One of four children of the late John W. and Eva Mae Feeback Kiskaden, Irene was born in Laurel on November 26, 1929. On March 14, 1947, she married Harlan R. Grizzell in Columbia, Indiana.

Mr. Grizzell survives. Irene was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Laurel and loved her church family. In her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking and gardening.

For many years, Irene worked as a cook for various local restaurants and enjoyed greeting shoppers at Walmart in Rushville for over eighteen years. Besides her husband of 71 years, Harlan Grizzell, survivors include a daughter, Nancy Jo Mummert of Shelbyville, Indiana; a son, Harlan Rick (Michele) Grizzell, Jr. of Laurel; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Phillip (Kay) Kiskaden of Indianapolis. Irene is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Charlotte “Sue” Peck; a grandson, Larry Byrd, Jr.; a great-grandson, Brendon Higbie; two sisters, Lora Mae Davis and Evelyn Wolferst; and a son-in-law, William Peck.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Pastor David Jordan will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Laurel First Baptist Church Building Fund or Southern Care Hospice Service.
