Joan (Sheehy) McClay, 84, of Connersville, Indiana passed away Friday morning, July 27, 2018, at Reid Health Emergency Department. She was born in Connersville to Dwight and Ann Sheehy. She was the oldest of five children.

Joan was a graduate of Connersville High School Class of 1952 and a life-long resident of Connersville. Joan worked as a baker, secretary, head cashier at Mace’s Grocery for 20 plus years and retired in 1999. She then was able to start volunteer work at Fayette Memorial Hospital serving many families.

Joan was an excellent fiber artist well known for beautiful quilts, afgans and baby clothes. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Connersville. Joan was a devoted Mother of four children, Ann Crist, of Phoenix, AZ, Chris Crist, of Connersville, Robert Field, of Richmond and Patricia (Jeff) Daniel, of Milton; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Wood, of Richmond; a brother, Robert Sheehy, of Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Eugene Sheehy, of Texas and James Sheehy, of Centerville; a grandson, Jacob Crist, of Connersville. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with Pastor Mal Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Springersville Cemetery.
