Jeanie Risch, 93, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana while holding the hand of a granddaughter, Kirstyn (York) Niebbia. Visitation of family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at Miller, Moster, Robbins funeral home, 1704 Grand Avenue, Connersville, Indiana and from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at the funeral home. Bishop Steve Shepherd will conduct the service at 10:30 a.m. Additionally, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon on Saturday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church conducted by Reverend Dustin Boehm.

Jean (Coon) Moore Risch was born June 12, 1925 in Fayette County, Indiana, she is the daughter of the late Russel Lyndon Coon, Sr. and Emma Elizabeth “Betty” Newby. She was also predeceased by two husbands: Robert Lee Moore and Leo Paul Risch; three siblings: Russell Lyndon Coon, Jr., Frances Louise Coon and Joenita Lee (Coon) Schneider; a grandson, Andrew David York; and an infant great-grandson, Michael Dean Houser. Jeanie is survived by a sister, Marian Kay (Coon) Dible and husband, Dan; her daughter, Jan (Moore) York; son-in-law, Bruce E. York; grandchildren: Carla Cechele (York) Houser and husband, Lonnie; Kendra Jean (York) Coral and husband Edgard; Aaron Bruce York and wife Marie; Kirstyn Maxine (York) and husband, Fernando; and Eric Paul York and wife Benay; 26 great-grandchildren: Allison Elizabeth Houser and Jennifer Nicole (Houser) Schiffman and husband Tyler; Nathan Nicholas York and wife Renee, Tristen Andrew York, Brandon Michael York and Evelyn Marie York; Edgard David Coral and wife Kimberly, Efrain Aaron Coral and wife Jessie; Emmali Gabriela (Coral) Stewart and husband Landon; Elissa Macajah Coral and Eleah Shania Coral; Sabrina Lee York, Hailee Marie York, Rachel Elise York, Katherine Elizabeth York, Aaron Michael York and Lila Jean York; Jannalynn Margot Niebbia, Jullianna Maxine Niebbia, Fernando Diego Niebbia, Joseleen Marjorie Niebbia; and Mattias Walker Niebbia; Makyla Kay York, Maya Jean York, Bryelle Elizabeth (Smith) Freeze and husband Tylor and Brennica Jean Smith; and six great-great-grandchildren: Michael Ray Schiffman, Benjamin Joseph Schiffman, Cecelia Joy Coral; Fowler Lynn Freeze born on Jean’s birthday in 2017, and twins: Forrester John Paul Freeze and Farlow Jean Freeze born earlier this month.

In addition to her direct descendants, Jeanie was loved and survived by many of the Risch family including Leo’s only living siblings: Eugene Jacob Risch and wife Shirley and Mary Ann (Risch) Snyder and husband Chuck. Her niece, Helen (Risch) Edwards, and nephew, Lowell Risch, were especially helpful to Jeanie. Mrs. Risch was well-known in Connersville and Fayette county.

She worked at Central State Bank and 5th 3rd Bank for 40 years and “shattered the glass ceiling” when promoted to the rank of vice president. She chaired the local United Way Campaign and was president of the Business Professional Women (BPW) several years. She created and led the BPW-sponsored annual “Reality Store” to educate the seventh-grade middle school students on the important financial aspects of life.

She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and served in all of the chairs including “worthy matron”. Her influence extended far beyond Fayette county through her grandchildren and great grandchildren who served missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Boston, Massachusetts, El Paso, Texas, Osorno, Chile, Montevideo, Uruguay, Madrid, Spain and Cleveland, Ohio. Two others will soon be serving missions in Farmington, New Mexico and at Salt Lake City, Utah Temple Square.
