Johnny Lee Standafer, 75, of Richmond, Indiana passed away Wednesday evening, May 2, 2018, at Reid Health. One of six children of Stanley and Ethel VanWinkle Standafer, Johnny was born on April 18, 1943, in Connersville. In his youth, he attended Alquina United Methodist Church, and he graduated from Alquina High School with the class of 1962.

A star athlete, Johnny played basketball and baseball for Alquina and was contacted but declined to play baseball in the minor leagues. Following graduation, Johnny moved to California where he owned and created the forms for Hustler Boat Company. He returned home to Indiana and worked for Tom Raper R.V. until retiring in 2013.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching sports. Survivors include two daughters, Lee Brown (Sherman Safewright) of Liberty and Carolyn Standafer Goodman of Florida; three grandchildren, Bryon (Laura) Safewright of New York, Jessica Goodman of Jasper, Indiana, and Lauren Goodman of Kansas; a great-grandson, Mason Judd; a sister, Marjorie Standafer Ripberger of Connersville; several nieces and nephews; and beloved pet, Sophie. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Jackson, Robert, Richard and Raymond Standafer.
