John M. Schorie, 77, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. John was born April 5, 1941, in Joliet, IL, to Clayton and Marian Schorie. He married Linda Ross Mayfield on February 19, 1994, in Kansas City, MO.

He received a bachelor’s degree in Business from SIU Carbondale. He was a member of the Kansas City Board of Trade and was a commodity trader for many years. He was an avid music lover, and was an accomplished saxophone player.

He played guitar as well, and was known for having perfect pitch. John could state facts about many musical groups, not only the band members names, but their birthdates, where they were born, what other groups they played with and other personal information. He loved all kinds of music, but the Eagles were certainly his favorite band, and he was especially proud that he was able to attend their Millennial concert on 12/31/1999 in Los Angeles.

He is survived by his wife Linda; son, Jim (Amber) Schorie, and children Dustin, Trevor and Brooke of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Susan (Michael) Sisto, and children Tori and Sarah of Rockwall, TX; stepson Jeff (Jamie) Mayfield, and children Zak and Zoë of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Sally Lichtenwalter of The Woodlands, TX; father and mother-in-law, Tom (Betty) Ross of Cape Girardeau; sister-in-law, Beth (David) Scherer of Cape Girardeau; brother-in-law, Tom (Nancy) Ross, Jr. of St. Louis; nieces and nephews; and a special family friend and caregiver, Pauline Gilder of Perkins, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Teddy Schorie. A memorial will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Southeast Hospice for their support. Memorial contributions may be given to Southeast Hospice or the Cape Senior Center. Online condolences may be made at www.
