Obituary for John T. Mars Jr John T. Mars, Jr, age 90, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away at 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. He was born April 13, 1928, the son of the late John & Mary (Akins) Mars, Sr. John worked a salesman for many years, he worked for Coca Cola, Morton Salt, Pizzini Distributing and others. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth “Libby” Metcalf of Edwardsville; nephew James “Jay” Metcalf, and two nieces, Linda Metcalf & Laurie Metcalf.

John served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Edwardsville, he loved singing, was an outstanding artist & even played minor league baseball in the St. Louis Cardinals farm system. He will be cremated according to his wishes and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018, at Immanuel United Methodist Church with Rev.

Jackie Havis-Shear officiating. He will be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, at a later date. The family request memorials to Immanuel United Methodist Church.
