Cunningham, Jr. of Linden passed away Saturday morning at IU Health West in Avon. He was 60. John or Johnny, was born October 8, 1958 at Fort Hood, in Killeen, Texas to John Cunningham, Sr. and Madonna Aper Cunningham.

He graduated from North Montgomery High School in 1977. John or “Bird” as he was affectionately nicknamed, played football and wrestled all four years of his high school career. He was a welder with the Canam Steel Corporation for fifteen years and later became a certified HVAC technician.

More recently John enjoyed coursework at Ivy Tech, with a particular interest in History. During his free time he enjoyed traveling, smoking his cigars, bowling, and cooking. John is survived by his father, John Cunningham, Sr.; brother, Thomas; two sisters, Sobra Davis and Marcia Stratton; seven nieces; two nephews; four great-nieces and five great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Madonna and sister, Diana. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM Thursday at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Avenue, Crawfordsville, with a service starting at 7 PM. His family will gather privately for burial at Linden Cemetery.
