John Wesley Mitchell, age 63 of Grassy Creek, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Mitchell was born May 14, 1954 in Havre de Grace, Maryland to James and Viola Bryant. He was preceded in death by his son Johnny Mitchell II.

John enjoyed building and fixing things around the house. John was his wife’s “Iron Man” who could help handle anything. He loved to travel and take long drives around the area and enjoyed walking around Harper’s Ferry.

He was an avid Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles fan. Memorial services will be private. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Brenda Mitchell, son, Anthony Snyder of Grassy Creek, daughter, Ramona Mitchell of MD, step-son, Jonathan Calhoun Jr. of West Jefferson, step-daughter, Tina Calhoun of Crumpler, parents, James and Viola Bryant of Rising Sun, MD, brothers, Jimmy Bryant and William Mitchell, sisters, Tena Bryant and Joni Bryant all of MD, 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be to the family c/o Badger Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., West Jefferson, NC 28694.
