Obituary for Johnnie Ruth Barner Johnnie R. Barner, age 84, of Rogersville, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Signature Health Care of Rogersville. She was a daughter of the late George and Glennie Gounce Markham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elmo Barner; brother, J.C. Markham; and sister, Anna Rae Hurd.

She enjoyed canning, sewing, flower gardening, and walking. She was a member of Grassy Springs Baptist Church and was saved at an early age. Survivors include her loving son, Mike Barner and wife Dena; and daughter, Kathy Trent and husband Dan; granddaughters, Cynthia Barner, Stacy Thompson and husband Chris; great granddaughters, Lily and Clara; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Signature Health Care of Rogersville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, December 28, 2018, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev.

Chris Hayes and Rev. Norman Sauceman officiating. Special music will be provided by the New Salem Singers.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be sent at www. christiansells.com.
