Joseph Abner Lee July 20, 1943 – January 06, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Joseph Abner Lee, 75, of Manassas, Virginia, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 with his family present at the Prince William County hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty Lou Kimbley Lee.

Joe was born on July 20, 1943, in Turtle Creek, PA. He was the son of the late Josiah Abner and Alma Clara Hall Lee. He was predeceased by his brother, George R. Lee.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Gallahan of Berryville, VA and two sons, Randy Lee of Mineral, VA and Robert E. Lee of Fredericksburg, VA and stepson, Don Vazquez of Waterford, VA and two grandsons, Bradley and Michael Gallahan. As a young boy, Joe developed a love of baseball, playing, trading cards, and memorizing stats. He would attend many professional baseball games and meet the players.

Joe’s first job was selling produce with his older brother, Harry. They would get up before sunrise to get the best quality and best price at a huge produce depot in Pittsburgh. As a teenager, he caddied at a nearby golf course, where as luck would have it, he caddied for many of the pro baseball players that he knew and admired.

He got to spend time with them discussing sports. In 1963, Joe moved to Washington, D.C. to find work with his older brother, Harry. He proudly worked for 31 years, from May 1978 – Dec.

2009, for the House of Representatives, Sargent at Arms, Parking Security Division in Washington, D.C. Joe lived many years in the Marlow Heights, MD area from 1965 to 2006, before moving to Prince William County, VA. Joe enjoyed spending time with his children and grandsons, hitting golf balls, listening to country music, watching wrestling, attending some Washington Nationals games, cheering on the Washington Redskins and his home team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 4-6:00 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home, 140 S. Nursery Ave.

, Purcellville, VA. A graveside burial service will be held on March 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, VA.
