Obituary for Joseph John Gillespie Funeral Mass for Joseph John Gillespie, 61, of Mentor, will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 401 North St., Chardon. Fr. Dan Redmond will officiate.
Mr. Gillespie passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at The Cleveland Clinic. Born Feb.
2, 1957, in Cleveland, he had been a lifetime Lake County resident, living in Mentor the past 55 years. He enjoyed fishing and bowling, liked antique car shows, and enjoyed attending arts and crafts exhibits. Joseph was the loving brother of Alberta L. (Jack) Scheutzow and Sandra Mitchell; brother-in-law of Josephine Gillespie; uncle of Robert A. (Renee) Oiler, Walter (Sandra) Mitchell, Traci (Albert) Zarro, Robert (Michelle) Mitchell, and Christine (James) Brennan; great-uncle of Marshall Oiler, Tyler Mack, and Emily, Cole and Sean Brennan; nephew of Thomas and John Glowacki; and cousin of many.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Marshall and Veronica (nee Glowacki) Gillespie; brother, Samuel Gillespie; brother-in-law, Robert Mitchell; aunts and uncles. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Entombment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
